She could teach Tom Cruise a thing or two about flying and ahead of her attendance at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere on Thursday, May 19 and now qualified pilot Carol Vorderman has shared a photo of herself getting cosy with the Hollywood A-lister.
Welsh-born Carol said earlier this week that's she's been invited to the red carpet premiere in London and had her fans and followers create a call sign for her night out - Matherick, a play on her maths whizzery and the name of the Cruise character in Top Gun.
In the run up to he big night out, the TV and radio presenter posted a picture on her Instagram of Top Gun and Mission Impossible star, Cruise, who has been promoting the film all week, including at an appearance on the ITV Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebration last weekend.
A beaming Carol, who will no doubt be returning to her beloved Welsh coast this summer, wrote that the picture was taken at Goodwood where the pair were racing cars a few years ago. She added that she couldn't wait to be back to racing, writing: "Have added rally driving to my list of MUST DOs as well. Life's too short not to."
She signed off the post with the "I feel the need....the need for....." referencing the famous Top Gun quote. Carol has had her pilot's license since 2013 and was the first woman to be appointed ambassador for the Royal Air Force Cadets.
