Carol Vorderman has sent a message to Boris Johnson after the Tories suffered humiliation at the by-election .
The Conservatives were hit by a double blow as they crashed to two defeats at the polls. Labour reclaimed a seat in the red wall constituency of Wakefield and the Liberal Democrats triumphed in the Devon seat of Tiverton and Honiton, which was considered a Conservative stronghold.
The results have prompted the Prime Minister's close ally, Oliver Dowden, to quit. The Tory MP claimed in his resignation letter that someone must take responsibility for a recent run of poor results.

People on social media have been reacting to the Conservatives by-election disaster today. Former Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman shared a damning verdict of the Prime Minister and called on him to quit.
She said: "As a free school meals kid from a single parent family, I've lived both real poverty & wealth and seen the inner workings of government at close hand. As a mild non-political person never have I been more actively disgusted by a prime minister than this one. JUST GO NOW BORIS"
The Prime Minister is currently in Rwanda and vowed to keep going in a statement today. He said: "It’s absolutely true we’ve had some tough by-election results. They’ve been, I think, a reflection of a lot of things, but we’ve got to recognise voters are going through a tough time at the moment.
"I think, as a government, I’ve got to listen to what people are saying, in particular to the difficulties people are facing over the cost of living, which, I think, for most people is the number one issue. We’re now facing pressures on the cost of living, we’re seeing spikes in fuel prices, energy costs, food costs - that’s hitting people.
"We’ve got to recognise there is more we’ve got to do and we certainly will, we will keep going, addressing the concerns of people until we get through this patch."
