Carol Vorderman says she hasn't weighed herself in 24 years as she shares diet tips

Carol Vorderman is known for being a fitness guru with many people often wondering how she looks so good.

The former Countdown presenter recently admitted that she hasn't weighed herself since 1999 meaning that it has been 24 years since she last stood on a scale. Her new outlook on her weight started when she did a 28-day detox diet all those years ago after 'putting on a bit of weight' and admitted she hasn't got back on the scales since then.

Speaking on the Table Manners podcast, Carol, 62, said: "Go back to my thirties, and my husband Paddy who I loved and adored, we loved pasta and all of that, but I was working really hard and I just got to the point where I was eating just to stay alive, stay awake. I put on a bit of weight and I didn't like that."

She added: "So I started this detox diet. It was slated by nutritionists at the time because it was 28 days detox diet. No meat, no wheat, no dairy, no sugar, for 28 days.

"After the detox diet, I haven't weighed myself since 1999 - don't know what I weigh. I won't let anyone tell me what I weigh - you know when you go for medicals. And by and large, when I'm home, I eat quite well.

"But if somebody's bought me chocolates or whatever it might be, I'll just find I'll just eat them before I'll go to the vegetables so I can't have it in the house. I'm very happy - that's all I've known for 20 years."

Asked by hosts Jessie and Lennie Ware what was in her fridge, Carol said: "Lots of vegetables, a bit of coleslaw, fish, turmeric shots, which I love, fruit, Greek yoghurt, cottage cheese."

She admitted that she doesn't cook when she is at home but loves to indulge when she goes out to eat. The TV personality said: "If I go and stay in other people's houses I'm always amazed at what they've got in the fridge. But I don't cook at home now you see.

"When I go out I'll eat what I want. I don't feel in denial at all. So when I go out I'll have what I like.

"Good pasta I love. I don't like sloppy pasta. I love butter. I love fish and chips, nice fish and chips, I don't like French fries - proper old-fashioned big chips."
