Carol Vorderman's This Morning 'sue me' rant put to a stop by Alison Hammond

Carol Vorderman was stopped mid-rant on the latest episode of This Morning as Alison Hammond stepped in. The former Countdown star, appearing on the show alongside Gyles Brandreth, made comments about her former friend Michelle Mone in a discussion about the Government's handling of the pandemic.

Slamming her ex-pal, Clifton resident Carol went as far as to look down the ITV cameras with her hands raised to say "sue me, Michelle." Joined by Dermot O'Leary, Alison hosted Carol and Gyles for a discussion about recent issues facing the Government, including Rod Stewart's shock call into Sky News to withdraw his long-time support for the Tories.

In response, Carol said: "It's just sad, terribly sad, they knew this was coming [after the pandemic]." Alison replied: "It's the not knowing, isn't it? A scan can at least show you where we're at, but to not have that". Gyles interjected: "£15 billion was wasted on PPE, how many scans would that buy?"

To which Carol fumed: "Fifty contracts were given and they were all recommended by Tories. We all know it's a scandal." Becoming more passionate, she then added: "Rishi Sunak said he has put all his assets in a blind trust.

"He has refused to say whether he holds assets in Moderna. That man came out in front of 10 Downing Street, as our Prime Minister, and said 'accountability, transparency', all of this. If you are true to your word, Rishi Sunak, tell us." Carol went on to make claims about businesswoman and Conservative life peer Mone, someone who she is no longer friends with. It was at this point that things became a little tense in the studio.

Carol said: "I knew many years ago and then dropped her like a stone when I realised what kind of person she was," she added. Looking down the lens and raising her hands, Carol quipped: "Sue me, Michelle."

The 62-year-old continued to talk about Baroness Mone before Alison cut her off mid-sentence. "Carol can I just say, she's not here to defend herself," she interjected. But Carol hit back: "No she's not here to defend herself," Carol agreed, adding: "I'm repeating what has been said in the press and has been proven to be true."

And This Morning viewers were flocking to social media to comment on Carol's moment of 'kicking off'. @sineadnics tweeted: "Really, really delightfully surprised by Carol Vorderman on #ThisMorning." @Paddy1094 said: "Yes!! Carol. @carolvorders telling it straight #ThisMorning. Let her host this show. She'd be brilliant."

@TraylorHolmes posted: "Carol Vorderman was READY today #ThisMorning." @AmbroseTwit commented: "@carolvorders is on fire #ThisMorning Go Carol!" @Tush27J added: "We need Carol Vorderman v Fiona Bruce on Question Time. That would be TV gold #ThisMorning. But @realjaneaird complained: "Get off your soapbox Carol… not the time or the place #ThisMorning."
