Carol Vorderman proudly shows off 'special room' named after her at her old university

Carol Vorderman has returned to her old college where she's shared with fans a special room named after her. The podcast host and TV presenter was back at Cambridge University for a special memorial service for her former tutor when she introduced fans to the 'Carol Vorderman Buttery' room.

"A special room (where the wine is sold) named after you know who!!! In a Cambridge College. Very proud," Carol told followers as she expressed it was "an honour" to be a part of the college, Sidney Sussex, which she first attended in 1978, to read engineering.

As Carol explained, a buttery room is where wine is kept, traditionally it's a large cellar room - often found in monasteries and food and drink would be stored there for passing guests. She wrote: "I never thought that I would have a college room named after me either. The Carol Vorderman Buttery is where the wine is handled and from where it’s sold to students. It’s next to the main dining hall built in 1596."

Carol was back at Sidney Sussex in Cambridge for the memorial service for her former tutor, Donald Green, who she says was a "special human". Carol explained: "He was instrumental in bringing in comprehensive children (I was a free school meals kid) & opening the system to women. A very special human."

It wasn't the only nostalgic trip Carol has embarked on recently. She also popped by Channel 4 offices and cosied up to the Countdown clock. The celeb co-hosted the teatime competition for 26 years between 1982 and 2008 and was back at the Channel 4 HQ to take part in internal panel on embracing equity for International Women's Day.
