Carol Vorderman makes admission as she issues update on Countdown return

Carol Vorderman has issued an update on whether she would return to Countdown.

The 61-year-old co-hosted the Channel 4 show for 26 years from 1982 until 2008. Viewers have called for her to return to Countdown after Anne Robinson announced she was quitting the show after just one year.

Carol has taken to Twitter and admitted it would be an honour to return before she wished good luck to whoever the new host is going to be. She said: "Thank you to all of you saying such lovely things about a possibility of me returning to Countdown.

"You're very kind & it would be an honour but I want to wish whoever is the lucky human to be the new host all the love and 9 letter words in the world." Anne Robinson recorded 265 episodes of the much-loved game show, alongside Rachel Riley.

Anne will appear on episodes until the summer and Channel 4 said a new host will be announced in due course. A spokesperson added: "Quick-witted Anne has been a brilliant host on this iconic show."
