Carol Vorderman laughs as she shares 'mistake' people make about her as she brands herself a 'scruff'

Carol Vorderman has filmed herself laughing as she shared the 'mistake' people make about her. The former Countdown host is regularly flooded with comments about her sensational appearances but she appears to have hinted that it's not all as it seems.

Taking to her Instagram Story, Carol appeared in a video from her car as she told her followers: "Oh the glamour!" Explaining what she was up to, the TV star went on: "Just stopped for fuel at Reading service station.

"I'm on my way to lots of production meetings for new shows and things in London, and put my make-up on in the service station toilets, as per. Which makes me laugh. People think sometimes, mistakenly, that there is this glamorous life going on."

She then added: "Can I just tell you, I am the biggest, happiest, scruff on the planet. But sometimes I have to scrub up a bit so this is a half-hearted attempt. I shall continue on my route and wish you all the love in the world." Carol also posted the video to Twitter and wrote: "So this is my morning…how’s yours going? Let me know Xx."

But fans didn't seem to agree. One said: "Ah love how real you keep it and you scrub up rather well I have to say! Have a great day Carol" Another commented: "Half-hearted? Looking as amazing as ever to be honest."

It comes after Carol issued a plea to her followers after becoming a blood donor for the first time. Despite being sat in a hospital-looking setting, the 62-year-old was all smiles as she underwent the blood donation.

She captioned the clip of her efforts: "I became a blood donor this morning @givebloodnhs at our local hospital Southmead Hospital, Bristol. It was honestly so easy."

Carol went on to explain the process as she added: "Lovely Martin looked after me, the centre was full, it took 8 mins 50 secs for them to collect about 0.5 litre. But the place was busy, dozens of people in there. With all the snacks and chocolate I was forced (ahem!!!) to eat, and the chatting it took less than an hour."

She ended the post with a plea as she urged her fans to do the same as she did. Carol said: "They really are desperate for more donors and particularly those from ethnic groups (a sickle cell patient can need up to 5 litres of blood a month) so if you feel inclined, go online or on your NHS app and sign up."
