Carol Vorderman lashes out as yet another fake account is set up in her name

Maths whiz Carol Vorderman has been targeted by yet another poser making a fake account in her name. The Countdown star has issued a stark caution to her fans to be mindful, and not fall for the fake Carol.

Although plenty of showbiz fans often get targeted by fake accounts of their favourite celebrities, Carol takes a no-nonsense approach to the scammers. The star often exposes the accounts as a thoughtful warning to her dedicated fans, and has previously branded those behind the slightly altered usernames as 'pathetic'.

In an Instagram post made yesterday, June 13, by the real Carol, the Clifton resident said that the efforts of the scammers has become 'boring'. Speaking to her 225,000 followers, Carol wrote, alongside a screenshot of the latest account: "FAKE ACCOUNT WARNING,

"Thank you for reporting another nob end for setting up this fake account. It gets boring after a while."

Carol then smugly added: "Meanwhile proper life is bloody marvellous. Some amazing things going on."

Unfortunately, some of Carol's fans had been contacted by the devious scammer. One fan commented: "Damm when I got a DM I thought my dream girl!!"

Another said: "Damn I subscribed to there only fans [sic]. Do I get a refund? Or the real deal."

"I am shocked how many there are," another Vorders fan said. "Money is the driver and it's the root of all evil.

"They always ask for money. I don't know why Instagram allow it?"

Carol likes to keep her fans posted on the good and bad on social media, with a recent highlight being an invite to the Top Gun: Maverick premiere in London last month. The Cambridge graduate, who has a pilot's licence, donned a khaki pilot suit and aviators, with a name badge that cleverly read: "MATHERICK".

Although attending a huge premiere in London would be an incredible experience for anyone, Top Gun holds a special place in Carol's heart. She told fans a few weeks ago: "You know the ONLY thing I ever wanted to be growing up and probably since....is a fighter pilot.

"I was born 20 years too early, they didn't take women pilots in the military in my day. But I got my licences in my 50s which closed a happy circle.

"So tonight isn't just a red carpet or a movie for me. It's much more meaningful I guess. I feel the need....the need....to say thank you."
