Carol Vorderman hits out at troll offering to take fans on £600 coffee date

Carol Vorderman has made her Instagram followers aware of another account impersonating her on the social media platform. The former Countdown star, 62, has had her fair share of run-ins with people pretending to be her on Instagram, with trolls hoping to lure in her fans, who think they're having a genuine conversation with the Clifton resident herself.

The star likes to expose scam accounts pretending to be her publicly, last year telling the "pathetic" person behind one to "get a life". This morning, March 21, Carol hit out at whoever is behind the Instagram account "carol.privately" just days after warning fans of another fake page, which people had received messages from.

This time, the scammers behind the pretend persona were trying to get Carol's fans to pay them hundreds of pounds in the hopes of meeting up with the maths whizz for a very pricey date. Attaching a screenshot of the latest scam account, Carol wrote on her Instagram story: "WARNING carol.privately is a scam account.

"Apparently they're asking £600 for a cup of coffee with me!!!" Carol added. "Jaysus, that's expensive.

"Would help if you could report as a scam account please."

Yet another impersonator has set up an Instagram account in Carol's name (Carol Vorderman)

At one point, a scam account pretending to be Carol was direct messaging fans, asking them for their "full cooperation" in bringing down imposters on Instagram. "Carol" claimed in the messages that "her" management were not doing anything about the scammers stealing her identity online, so she was taking matters into her own hands by hiring "private investigators".

Aside from calling out her impersonators, Carol keeps things positive on Instagram, often sharing career news, stunning selfies and her trips to wellness retreats abroad with her fans. On Mother's Day, the star showed off the thoughtful Mother's Day gift she received from her son, Cameron, with whom she attended Cheltenham Festival Ladies' Day last week.

The bouquet of flowers Cameron bought Carol were a reflection of the last Mother's Day they spent with Carol's late mum Jean, who sadly passed away in 2017, aged 88. The bunch included a red rose for Jean, a yellow flower for Carol's dress on their final Mother's Day together and to represent the support she gives her son, and a white rose for him.
