Carol Vorderman drops television commitments as she issues health update

Carol Vorderman was forced to drop her morning television commitments as she battles the flu.

The presenter shared the sad news on Instagram as she remained wrapped in a fluffy white robe. Coughing throughout the message, Carol apologised profusely for letting the viewers down but said it was out of her control.

She said: "Sorry I won't be on This Morning this morning. I was looking forward to it as well. I'll be better soon. Ugh, I need a cup of tea."

Carol acknowledged she was not looking her best as she revealed the flu has prevented her from maintaining her appearance. She added: "Well I'm four days into the flu thing. Oh, god, I feel rough and look it. I haven't brushed my hair in four days so excuse that.

"Anyway, thank you for your lovely messages." Carol ended the clip by falling back into a coughing fit.

She was scheduled to join This Morning staple Gyles Brandreth for 'Date Busters', a segment which sees the pair tackle viewers' questions and concerns regarding love, sex and relationships.

Friends of Carol's took to the comment section to wish her a speedy recovery. Alongside a heart-eyed emoji, model Kelly Brook said: Get well soon!" Steps singer Ian Watkins added: "BIG HUGS XXX"
