Carol Vorderman covers up at Cheltenham after slamming claims she cosied up to Matt Hancock

Carol Vorderman looked radiant as ever as she returned to Cheltenham Festival this morning after slamming claims she "cosied up" to Matt Hancock in the royal box yesterday.

The presenter, 62, was among those in attendance for the launch of four-day festival in Gloucestershire yesterday (March 14). It's scheduled to conclude on Friday (March 17).

She was back at Cheltenham Racecourse this morning for the second day of the festival - which is dubbed 'Ladies Day' - and was spotted modelling her outfit at the location.

Carol had wrapped up in a grey jacket, which had accompanied with a brown belt. She also donned a pair of brown trousers, some knee-high boots and a khaki hat.

Carol has been among other celebrities at the event, with her spotted talking to singer Gareth Gates, 38, and politician Matt Hancock, 44, at the festival on Tuesday.

She was photographed on a balcony of a suite alongside Matt and his partner Gina Coladangelo, 45. The interaction prompted attention as Carol has previously taken swipes at Matt and the Conservative government in the past.

Carol however has addressed the suggestion that she was "cosying up" to Matt at the racecourse. She reacted to the attention over their interaction on Twitter last night.

The former Countdown presenter told her followers in a video message that she had been approached by Matt and Gina whilst on the terrace with her pal Jules Sampson.

Carol - who later remarked that she had been "brought up to be polite" - said the couple presented themselves and added that she subsequently introduced herself and Jules.

Discussing the interaction, she further commented about the situation: "What are you meant to do? You're in the royal box. You can't call them a ... in the royal box, can you?"

The media personality said that she went on ask if Matt - who is now an independent MP, after having previously been a Tory politician - was into horseracing.

Carol suggested that after a brief interaction she noted that her and Jules wanted to watch a race, telling her followers that they then "turned round to watch the course".

She further commented: "He said, 'Oh by the way, thank you.' So I turn around again to be civil. 'By the way, thank you for everything you do with your son [Cameron] about enlightening people about dyslexia. I am dyslexic'."

Carol continued: "I said, 'It's very important to me as a mother of a child who had special educational needs that people are aware that you can become very successful in spite of the early studies'.

"It takes them longer to get to where they need to be, that's all. They're not incapable, it just takes people longer'."

"And at that point I said, 'By the way, I really wanna watch this race.' Turned round and watched the race. Jules and I never spoke another word again! That's it," she added.
