Countdown star Carol Vorderman wore an outfit inspired by Tom Cruise’s heroic fighter pilot as she attended the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick on Thursday, May 19. The television star wore a khaki jumpsuit with a badge that read, ‘MATH-ERICK’ - a clear reference to her talent for mathematics.
Carol, 61, posed for photos in the jumpsuit and she teamed it with a pair of black platform heels and a pair of aviator sunglasses. She accessorised her outfit with a gold necklace and bracelet.
The media personality is no stranger to flying, as she regularly posts pictures and videos of her learning to fly on Instagram. Most recently, Carol posted a picture with Tom Cruise himself and captioned it appropriately, “I feel the need…. The need for…” You can read more about that here.

Top Gun: Maverick finally hits cinemas on Wednesday, May 25 after facing multiple delays due to Covid. Tom Cruise reprises his role as the titular character and stars alongside an all-star cast that features returning cast members Val Kilmer and Jennifer Connolly, as well as newbies Miles Teller and Monica Barbaro.
Carol Vorderman has always had a passion for flying and in 2014, acquired her pilot licence following an intense flying course. In a recent post displaying her khaki jumpsuit, the star told fans that Top Gun: Maverick is “more than just a movie” because of her connection to flying. She described the film as “more meaningful” for her. In the post, she described her outfit as a "homage to the original Top Gun".
In 2014, Carol became an Ambassador for the RAF Air Cadets and notably, she was the first woman to be appointed as an honours group captain.
