Carol Vorderman astounds ITV This Morning's Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary with secret admission

Carol Vorderman surprised This Morning co-hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary during her appearance on the ITV show on Friday morning (November 18). The former Countdown star has been a familiar face on the sofa in recent weeks as she has discussed the latest action from I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.

The Welsh TV presenter appeared in the Australian jungle herself back in 2016 alongside celebrity campmates including Emmerdale's Adam Thomas, comedian Joel Dommett and Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt who was crowned Queen of the jungle.

As a former contestant of the show, the 61-year-old has been voicing her opinion on this year's campmates including her friend Chris Moyles and the controversial appearance of MP Matt Hancock.

Before chatting all things I'm A Celeb, Carol returned to the sofa on Friday with Alison and Dermot to discuss the Autumn Budget which was announced by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt yesterday (November 17).

The star became a household name as the mathematician on Countdown between 1982 and 2008 and has since released many school maths textbooks as well as her own online maths coaching system.

But instead of surprising viewers with her maths skills, Carol astounded the This Morning hosts with a revelation about her name.

Appearing alongside financial broadcaster Matthew Wright, talk turned to the upcoming postal strike ahead of the Christmas.

As Carol gave her opinion on the strike, she said how the festive period is a busy time for her with her birthday being on Christmas Eve.

The TV star then revealed: "There is a specific reason, it is because I was born on Christmas Eve, Christmas Carol. So everybody says oh as your birthday is at Christmas we are going to buy you an extra big present - they never do. So it all sort of merges."

Stunned by the admission, Alison, responded: “That is so interesting! I will never forget your birthday again, Carol. Christmas Carol, Christmas Eve, that's so lovey."

Earlier in the show Carol discussed the latest budget news and she's not been afraid to dish the dirt of the government in recent weeks.

The former countdown host recently made a joke about MP Matt Hancock's name as he made his I'm A Celebrity debut.

In a playful video posted to her Instagram stories, Carol made an unsubtle dig at Matt's surname. The former Countdown presenter was on her way to appear on ITV chat show This Morning to discuss I'm a Celeb when she joked about how to pronounce Matt's last name.

Carol quippped that the "Han" was silent so his name is "Matt C**k." She said: "Apparently to say his name properly the Han is silent, who knew? Matt C**k, I think I've got it right."

This is not the first time Carol has spoken out about Matt and the government. After it was announced that he had been suspended from the Conservative Party for entering I'm A Celebrity, she tweeted: "I have no words...except GENERAL ELECTION NOW."
