Carol Vorderman has taken some fans by surprise by requesting a muddle wrestle with ITV's Susanna Reid.

The former Countdown star has been making preparations for episodes as part of the Pride of Britain podcast Extraordinary People where Carol explores inspiring and emotional real-life stories from the team behind TV’s hugely successful awards.

She shared the news on her Instagram page on Thursday (June 9) - which has amassed more than 225,000 followers - to sing the praises of the winners of the awards. She also explained her joy about interviewing "the love of her life" Judge Rob Rinder.

In the video, she said: "Do you know what, our winners on Pride of Britain are extraordinary they are just so special. I found that I am learning a lot from them, and I have today.

"I also was interviewing the love of my life Judge Rob Rinder. Susanna Reid keeps trying to take him away from me. I've told her I'm willing to mud wrestle her for him, but she hasn't taken me up on that yet sadly."

Many commenters shared their delight at the jokey request put forward by Carol on her Instagram post, with many claiming they would "pay" to see the mud wrestle. @gendersjay said: "I would pay too [sic] see the mud wrestling Carol."
