Carlton star Darcy Vescio has outlined their pride in being a one-club player after signing a two-year contract extension on the eve of the AFLW season.

The Blues' games and goals record holder, as well as a two-time All-Australian, Vescio will remain with the club until at least the end of 2026.

The 31-year-old's signature is a tick of approval for the Blues' new direction under second-year coach Mathew Buck.

"Being a one-club player is something I am very proud of, and I am thrilled to sign on with the Blues," Vescio said.

"I have so much love for this club, the supporters, coaches and especially my teammates.

"We truly are such a connected group.

"Throughout my time here, I have seen a lot of changes across our program, and I am excited by the vision that the club - led by 'Bucky' - is implementing.

"I can't wait for this new era of Carlton. Bring on round one."

A four-time leading goal-kicker at Carlton, Vescio has boosted their aerobic capacity over the off-season with an eye towards a new role on the wing in 2024.

"Darcy has been here since the very inception of the Carlton AFLW program and truly understands what the side has been through and where we are headed," Blues head of AFLW Ash Naulty said.

"They are a selfless person and a team-first player.

"Their ability to get players around them involved in the game is an invaluable asset.

"It is great to see them sign on and show their trust in the program we are building at the club and continually live out the values and standards we hold highly."

Buck is attempting to steer Carlton back into the finals for the first time since the 2020 season, which was called off mid-way through the finals series because of the pandemic.

The Blues finished 12th with a 4-6 record in Buck's first season at the helm last year, and start the new campaign with a clash against Hawthorn in Frankston on September 1.
