Carlos Santana is 'doing well' after 'passing out' on stage with heat exhaustion

Guitarist Carlos Santana reportedly passed out on stage while performing at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Michigan.

The musician, who performed with the band Santana on hits such as Smooth, was mid-set on the band's Miraculous Supernatural tour on Tuesday when he is said to have collapsed.

Medical personnel reportedly came to the aid of the 74-year-old with the crowd being asked to pray for him, according to Fox 2 reporter Roop Raj.

He was also spotted waving to the crowd from behind the privacy cover and his team has now said he is "doing well" in hospital.

In a statement, his team said he was taken to a local hospital for continued observation following his experience of exhaustion and dehydration.

They also confirmed that Wednesday's show has been postponed.

Concerned fans took to Twitter following the news breaking of the incident, with many quote tweeting Raj's comment.

A number of fans sent praying hand emojis, while others described the situation as "scary".

One user wrote: "Oh dear. Sending good vibes to Carlos Santana," while another said: "Prayers for Carlos Santana. My heart sunk hearing this news. I hope he gets better soon."

And another commented: "Hopefully it’s just heat-related, such as dehydration. That’s still serious, but much better than, say, a heart issue. I live near Pine Knob, and was just in my garage and thought, 'Man, it’s unusually warm & humid for this time of night.' So hopefully that’s it."

The band were taking part in their tour alongside Earth, Wind and Fire when the incident occurred.

The tour is set to run until the end of August, after which Santana is expected to resume his longstanding Las Vegas residency at the House of Blues in Las Vegas through the end of September.

After that, he's again set to perform for two weeks in November.

The star had to have an "emergency" heart procedure last year, which led to him cancelling a concert in Las Vegas.
