Carlo Ancelotti agrees with Quique Setien over Fabian Ruiz amid ongoing Arsenal transfer link

Arsenal are said to be rivalling a host of European clubs in a race to sign Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a superb rise since his move from Real Betis back in 2018 with Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid all said to be interested.

But it is the Gunners who have made the headlines in recent days, and having lost a striker following Pierre Emmerick Aubameyang's departure to Barcelona, Mikel Arteta could now look to Ruiz to add further bite to his midfield.

Entering into the final year of his contract with the Serie A side, the Spanish international has received plaudits from a whole host of top coaches, including former Azzurri boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Speaking following Napoli's 1-1 draw with Roma back in 2020, Ancelotti lauded praise on Ruiz, insisting his attributes are key to enabling a strong team performance.

“Fabian was one of the best on the field. He is a great player and showed fantastic pace and presence. When we have the ball, he is very focused and knows his position so well,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

Another manager at the very top who also agree's is that of former Barcelona boss Quique Setien, who praised his compatriot ahead of the two sides Champions League meeting in 2020.

''I have a lot of affection for Fabien, he has had a spectacular growth, I'm very happy for him, I hope that tomorrow he will not show all his virtues so we can stop him,'' said the now 63-year-old.

''I am happy with his goals, he is tremendously humble and a beautiful person.''

With Arsenal a possible destination for the midfielder this summer, the race for his signature could hot up given he is yet to sign an extension with the Italian side.
