Motherwell striker Connor Shields is attracting interest from English Football League sides Carlisle United and Barrow.
The 25-year-old, who hails from Coatbridge, joined the Steelmen from Queen of the South on a three-year deal in July 2021 but has netted just three goals in over 50 appearances.
According to reports, the EFL League Two outfits have "both been alerted to the forward's possible availability" after Motherwell boss Steven Hammell strengthened his striking options last week with the arrival of former Gillingham striker Mikael Mandron.
The Frenchman is expected to be the main back-up or support for Dutch frontman Kevin van Veen and Shields' game time may become limited in the second half of the season.
It is said Hammell would be open to the player going out on loan to get regular game time for the remainder of the campaign.
Shields has made 22 appearances this season but is yet to find the target and netted three times in 29 outings last term.
He has experience down south already in his career having made a big move from League Two Albion Rovers to Sunderland in 2018. He has also been on the books at Aldershot.
