Carl Froch can’t resist reminding boxing fans he sold 80,000 tickets at Wembley

Carl Froch made sure to remind fans about his knockout win over George Groves at Wembley on the day of Tyson Fury's title clash with Dillian Whyte.

Fury defends his WBC heavyweight title tonight against interim champion Whyte in front of a record-breaking 94,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. Queensbury Promotions boss Frank Warren has claimed the fight will mark the largest boxing attendance in modern European history.

Froch's rematch with Groves sold 60,000 tickets in the first hour of release with 20,000 later being released, whilst Fury vs Whyte sold 85,000 tickets in the first three hours after going on sale.

Whilst previewing the fight on BBC Breakfast, Froch said: "This is a massive moment and what an occasion. I don't know if you know, but I once boxed here in front of 80,000 fans and this stadium is an amazing place, once you do that ring walk you can really feel the crowd."

It's certainly not the first, and last time, that Froch has managed to slyly remind fans of his career-defining win. Whilst speaking with Floyd Mayweather before his 'Fight of the Century' against Manny Pacquiao in 2015, Froch reminded 'Money' about his win.

"I wanted to ask you Floyd, before I knocked out George Groves at Wembley Stadium in front of 80,000 fans, I worked a lot on power so I did a lot of swimming and chopped down a few trees myself, then I held my feet and knocked him out," Froch said.

Froch, a four-time champion at 168lbs, retired from boxing a year after his second win over Groves. 'The Cobra', who was 38 at the time, admitted his "joints and bones" were aching and he had no desire left to compete.

The now-retired boxer also let slip in his interview that Fury's wife Paris is pregnant with their seventh child. Fury hasn't confirmed whether Paris is pregnant or not, but 'The Gypsy King' has previously stated that he wants to have 11 children.

Whilst discussing the legitimacy of Fury's retirement claims heading into the fight, Froch said: "He's got five or six children? I don't want to get it wrong, but he's got a lot of kids. I think Paris his wife is pregnant.

"Why not sail off into the sunset, he's getting on for 35 years old. He must have made around £100milllion in his career, he's absolutely massive. He's the heavyweight king and to get himself in the shape he needs to fight at 35, it's hard work."
