Cardinals will not face Vikings QB J.J McCarthy in Week 13

The Arizona Cardinals were expected to face four rookie quarterbacks in 2024 as they face the Chicago Bears, who drafted Clabe Williams first overall, the Washington Commanders, who drafted Jayden Daniels second overall, the New England Patriots, who drafted Drake Maye third overall and the Minnesota Vikings, who selected J.J. McCarthy 10th overall.

They will not face McCarthy.

McCarthy’s season ended before it even began.

He reported knee soreness after the team’s preseason opener on Saturday and it was discovered he needed knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus.

However, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and as explained by Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell, a complete repair of the meniscus was needed for his knee to recover to 100%, rather than a trim, which ended his season.

The Cardinals will travel to Minnesota in Week 13 to face the Vikings. Assuming he plays well enough and doesn’t get hurt, Sam Darnold will be the starting quarterback.

Darnold has never started against the Cardinals in his career.
