Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye are widely expected to be the top three picks in the 2024 NFL draft. After that, teams hoping to land J.J. McCarthy (or another top prospect) might be interested in trading up to the fourth overall pick to make sure they get their favorite prospect.
The Arizona Cardinals currently hold pick No. 4 and general manager Monti Ossenfort said Wednesday that the team is putting out “a big neon sign that says ‘open.'”
“We’re always going to be listening,” Ossenfort said, via Jess Root of Cards Wire. “I think we’ll always have the conversation, we may not get to a point where a deal makes sense, whether it’s at (pick No.) 4 or anywhere we’re picking, but we’re always going to have the conversation and if it makes sense, if it’s attractive to building our team, then it’s something that we’ll certainly consider no matter where we’re at in the draft.”
The Denver Broncos currently hold pick No. 12 and if they want to land McCarthy, they will likely need to trade up for him. Our most recent seven-round mock draft has the Cardinals moving down to No. 12 and the Broncos jumping up to No. 4 to land McCarthy.
The 2024 NFL draft will be held in Detroit from April 25-27.
