The Arizona Cardinals will have at least two vacancies to fill on their defensive staff. A day after they lost linebackers coach Sam Siefkes, who became the defensive coordinator at Virginia Tech, they will need to find a new defensive line coach.
According to reporter Aaron Wilson, the Cardinals have moved on from defensive line coach Derrick LeBlanc after two seasons at the position.
His job with the Cardinals was only his second in the NFL. Before becoming the defensive line coach for Arizona in 2023, he was the assistant defensive line coach for the Miami Dolphins in 2022 and, prior to that, had worked in the college ranks.
Assistant coaches often work under two-year contracts, so this was likely a situation in which they decided not to renew his deal.
Why fire him or let him go? It could be for a number of reasons. It could be performance-related, it could be philosophical and it might be head coach Jonathan Gannon or defensive coordinator Nick Rallis know someone is available they would prefer to have.
