Cardinals sign former Vikings cornerback Kris Boyd

The Minnesota Vikings lost one of their best special teamers on Monday as the Arizona Cardinals have signed cornerback Kris Boyd. The move was reported by Darren Urban of the teams official website azcardinals.com.

A seventh-round pick in 2019, Boyd has been a standout on special teams as a gunner for the Vikings. He was great in multiple ways on special teams but struggled the few times that he was on the field on defense.

The decision to no re-sign Boyd is a curious one. He was great on special teams, but that choice is likely salary cap related, as not bringing him back at the minimum likely saved $200k versus a rookie on the minimum contract.
