The Arizona Cardinals’ Week 13 opponent is not a frequent one but it is one fans hold extra dislike for. They face the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road this Sunday. They have not faced the Steelers since 2019, and it has been a while since they beat them.
The last time the Cardinals defeated the Steelers was 2007, in Ken Whisenhunt’s first year as head coach. Whisenhunt had spent the previous six years on the Steelers staff, including the final three as offensive coordinator.
The Steelers are 4-0 against the Cardinals since then, including Arizona’s heartbreaking 27-23 loss in Super Bowl XLIII to cap the 2008 season.
But it has been even longer since the Cardinals franchise beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh. Their last win there was in 1969, when the Cardinals were based in St. Louis.
The Cardinals have only made three trips to Pittsburgh since then.
The rivalry dates back to 1933. The Steelers lead the all-time series 35-23-3.
