The Arizona Cardinals are like every other NFL team in that they are meeting with scores of draft prospects. Many of those meetings are done virtually.
And while a team meeting with a player doesn’t mean he is a target for the NFL draft, it is interesting to see what players teams are out there looking at.
The Cardinals have met with Notre Dame edge defender Javontae Jean-Baptiste, the player told The Draft Network’s Justin Melo. It was a virtual meeting done recently.
Jean-Baptiste has had an interesting predraft process.
He got sick with the flu and lost 20 pounds, missing the East-West Shrine Bowl and then having to participate in the Senior Bowl.
Then, at the NFL combine, he got food poisoning the night before the NFL combine.
Dealing with nausea and diarrhea, he ducked in and out of the bathroom between workouts and battled through his meetings with teams.
He measured 6-foot-4 5/8 and weighted 240 pounds. He ran the 40 in 4.66 seconds, had a 34.5-inch vertical leap and a 127-inch broad jump.
He played three seasons at Ohio State before transferring to Notre Dame for 2023. Last season, he had five sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss, both career highs.
He will be a name to keep an eye on as the draft approaches.
