The Minnesota Vikings hoped to extend their 14-10 lead going into halftime when Greg Joseph lined up a 56-yard field goal attempt in the climate controlled confines of U.S. Bank Stadium. Instead, Joseph’s line drive attempt didn’t even get past the line of scrimmage.
That’s because Arizona Cardinals’ defensive lineman Leki Fotu was there to block it. Not with his outstretched arms, mind you. With his entire face.
Joseph’s kick was so low it hit the 6-foot-5 tackle squarely in the helmet before caroming to the turf. The ball was downed from there and the Vikings jogged to the locker room with three fewer points than they’d planned.

Let’s zoom in and slow it down for a closer look.

That ball was maybe an inch away from hitting Foku so squarely it stuck in his facemask, thus depriving us of watching the 330-pound lineman rumble downfield for what could have been an epic, mostly hilarious big man touchdown. Instead, Arizona had to settle for ruining a kick that had roughly a one percent chance of success at liftoff.
