The Arizona Cardinals have won three of their last four games and are now in first place in the NFC West following their 28-27 win over the Miami Dolphins.
Where does that put them comparatively with the rest of the league?
In the latest NFL power rankings from USA TODAY’s Nate Davis, they are all the way up to No. 14.
They’ve won three of four, are undefeated in NFC West play, don’t go back on the road until Nov. 24 and – if the season ended today – would be the conference’s No. 4 playoff seed. Now just imagine if a team that hasn’t surrendered fewer than 370 yards since Week 2 played a little defense.
It appears that the Cardinals might have gotten their offense on track. They had their first 300-yard passing game since Jonathan Gannon became head coach. They won without a dominant performance from running back James Conner.
Defensively, they just lack talent up front. They are playing survival defense hoping to make key plays on third down and late in the game.
But at 4-4 and leading the NFC West with the softer part of their schedule coming up, the Cardinals could make a little noise in the next few weeks.
