Cardinals give vaunted 49ers defense toughest challenge to date

The Arizona Cardinals did not come away Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers with a win. They lost the game 28-25. However, Arizona’s offense had more success than any other team thus far against a very good 49ers defense.

San Francisco entered Week 9 with the league’s No. 1 total defense, No. 1 pass defense and they were No. 2 in scoring defense.

So what did the Cardinals do?

  • The Cardinals had 357 total yards of offense. It was the most the 49ers have allowed this season.
  • They rushed for 153 yards as a team, the most the 49ers have allowed all season.
  • They had 204 net passing yards. It was only the second time all season the 49ers have given up more than 200 net passing yards. Kyler Murray was only the second quarterback to throw for over 200 yards. He had 241.
  • They scored 25 points, which was the most they had allowed all season. No one had scored more than 20.
  • They were the first team to score three touchdowns against them.
  • They were the first team not to turn the ball over to the 49ers.

The team does not accept moral victories. However, fans can take this loss and look at how they played better than anyone else has this season against their defense.

Kliff Kingsbury was hired to fix the offense. Once again, it looks like this has been accomplished.
