The Arizona Cardinals have not made any moves recently and NFL free agency is still a little more than a month away, but they will have a significant amount of salary cap space.
According to Over the Cap, the Cardinals are No. 4 in the league with more than $71.3 million in available cap space. They have 60 players under contract. In the offseason, only the top 51 contracts count.
They also rank fourth in effective cap space at $67.8 million. Effective cap space takes into consideration the salaries for the rookie class in the draft and dead money.
Arizona has a number of needs to fill and has 20 players who will be unrestricted free agents.
They have holes at outside linebacker, guard, inside linebacker and need defensive line depth. They could use receiver help, tackle depth and will need a long snapper unless Aaron Brewer returns.
NFL free agency will begin with the legal negotiating period on March 10. The new league year will begin on March 12.
