The Eagles and Cardinals announced on Thursday night that they settled a tampering investigation in regards to Arizona hiring former Philadelphia defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon as its new head coach.
According to the joint statement from the two teams, Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort spoke with Gannon just days after the Eagles played in the NFC championship in January, which was during the time when contact is not allowed under the NFL’s anti-tampering policy. The Cardinals self-reported the violation.
In order to resolve this investigation, the two teams decided to swap third-round picks this year’s NFL draft. The Eagles received the No. 66 draft pick (third round) and will send the No. 94 pick (third round) and a 2024 fifth-round pick to the Cardinals. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was first to report the swap.

The NFC championship game between the Eagles and 49ers took place on Jan. 29. Philadelphia then lost Super Bowl LVII to the Chiefs on Feb. 12. Gannon was hired by the Cardinals on Feb. 14.
