Cardinals defense struggles in 1st half vs. Lions

The Arizona Cardinals were unlucky at the end of the first half against the Detroit Lions when a potential defensive touchdown was blown dead when the game reached the two-minute warning before the Lions snapped the ball.

However, the Cardinals did little to slow the Detroit offense.

Detroit took a 20-10 lead into halftime. They gained 240 yards of offense. They rushed for 109 yards. Quarterback Jared Goff was a perfect 12-for-12 passing for 137 yards and two touchdowns, finishing the half with a “perfect” 158.3 passer rating.

The Cardinals did sack Goff once, forcing one punt, but they allowed Detroit to convert on five-of-six third downs.

They held the ball over 19 minutes of the first half.

Arizona will have to change that in the second half if they are going to keep up.
