The Arizona Cardinals had an 11-play, 99-yard touchdown drive in the third quarter of their game against the San Francisco 49ers. Josh Dobbs’ eight-yard touchdown pass to rookie receiver Michael Wilson made the score 21-16.
That long a touchdown drive was rare for both teams.
The last 99-yard touchdown drive the Cardinals had was in 2016.
On December 11, 2016 against the Miami Dolphins, Carson Palmer threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to Brittan Golden to cap a 12-play, 99-yard drive.
For the 49ers, it had been more than 20 years since they allowed such a drive.
It came in 2002 against the Denver Broncos. Steve Marriucci was the Niners’ head coach and Jeff Garcia was their starting quarterback.
Even with low expectations this season, the Cardinals continue to show they are not planning on just being terrible.
