The final draft pick for the Arizona Cardinals to sign their rookie contract was linebacker BJ Ojulari, their second-round pick out of LSU.
It took longer for many second-round picks to sign their contracts and the hangup was the number of years with guaranteed salary.
We have the details of his contract from Over the Cap. Ojulari gets nearly three full years of salary guarantees.
Ojulari’s four-year contract is worth a total of nearly $8.6 million.
He received a $3.25 million signing bonus.
These are his yearly salaries:
2023: $750,000 (fully guaranteed)
2024: $1.14 million (fully guaranteed)
2025: $1.53 million ($1.39 million fully guaranteed)
2026: $1.92 million
His cap hit in 2023 will be $1.56 million. His cap hits the rest of his deal will be $1.95 million, $2.34 million and $2.74 million.
Last year’s second-round pick, tight end Trey McBride, got two full years of salary guarantees. Receiver Rondale Moore, drafted in the second round in 2021, got two years of guarantees. Cornerback Byron Murphy, drafted in the second round in 2019, got three full years of guarantees.
Ojulari gets two full years of salary guarantees about 90% of his third year’s salary guaranteed.
Ojulari has been on PUP recovering from a knee injury since the start of training camp.
