Cardiff splash pad closes temporarily days after opening

A popular splash pad in Cardiff has closed "temporarily" after reopening for the season on Saturday, May 27. The Victoria Park splash pad had to shut down after a fault developed in the mechanism that supplies water to the splash pad, said Cardiff Council.

They confirmed that a contractor is working with them to fix the fault and hope it will reopen as soon as possible. The council added that it is "frustrating" that the splash pad has broken down in the middle of the half-term school holidays, as it worked during testing last week.

A spokesperson for Cardiff Council, said: “A fault has developed in the mechanism that supplies water to the Splash Pad, which regrettably means that we have had to close this very popular attraction temporarily. It is essential to maintain the quality and pressure of the water to operate safely and effectively. Our contractor is working with us to fix the fault as soon as possible, so that it can reopen for the public to enjoy.

"The Splash Pad worked during testing last week, and when it reopened on Saturday for the new season, which makes it all the more frustrating that it has broken down in the middle of the half-term school holidays.”
