Cardiff skate venue to host night market with music, food and stalls

Cardiff is known for its array of markets - from the historic daily Cardiff Market in the city centre, to the weekly Cardiff Farmers markets in the suburbs and the indoor flea market on an industrial estate.

Now another market is due to pop up on the scene - and you won't want to miss it as it's for one day only. Skatepark Spit and Sawdust, located just off Newport Road, is hosting its first 'Indie Night Market' on Friday, July 7.

The skatepark's yard will be transformed into a shopper's dream with 20 stalls selling art work, ceramics, jewellery, stationery, wellness products and a lot more. There will be no shortage of summer vibes, with a DJ set to play music from a caravan and an drinks bar open until 11pm.

The mammoth vert ramp, which takes centre stage of the yard, will also be open for any skateboarders wanting to show off their skills. And, whether you work up an appetite skating or shopping, you can treat yourself to some food from Spit and Sawdust's cafe, which serves up burgers, hotdogs, baps, sides and cakes, as well as a broad range of craft beer and wine. You can see what we thought of the food in our review here.

Entry is free to the one-off event, which will run from 6pm to 10pm, and children and dogs are welcome. Spit and Sawdust is a not-for-profit social enterprise which opened in 2014, combining a skate park, cafe-bar, art space and studios. It is run by two artists and a skateboarder, with the aim of offering a "unique and welcoming cultural, creative and social space in the city".
