A popular restaurant in Cardiff was forced to close temporarily after water poured through the ceiling during a thunderstorm. Pasture on the city centre's High Street was evacuated on Monday, September 5 after heavy rain poured down in Wales.
The restaurant closed immediately as a fire crew rushed in to deal with the problem. It remained closed throughout the day as workmen repaired the building and is re-opening at 5pm this evening (Tuesday, September 6).
Owner Sam Elliott said: "There was some very adverse weather in Cardiff and our roof tile had blown off and caused a massive flood at the back end of the restaurant. There was lots of water ingress which caused us to evacuate.

"I was here last night and wasn't prepared to take the risk of electrics and water [mixing]. We evacuated the restaurant, obviously the fire alarms were triggered and everything and that's about the extent of it.
"Obviously this morning we closed for lunch to have a big clean-up, make sure everything was safe and dry, and we'll be back open this evening."
He said the scale of the clean-up required was "pretty immense," adding: "Electricians and builders were here overnight. It was pretty full-scale."
Luckily there was no lasting damage to the building, with most of the harm being caused to decorative parts of the restaurant. Mr Elliott hopes that the damage to the experience of the customers who were evacuated was not too bad.
A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "At approximately 6.55pm on Monday, September 5, 2022, we received a special service call to High Street in Cardiff. A crew from Cardiff Central attended the scene and upon arrival discovered a large quantity of water was entering a commercial property due to blocked guttering.
"Crews worked to clear the guttering and secured the scene. A stop message was received at approximately 7.16pm."
