Part of a Cardiff park is set to close for more than a month for improvement works to be carried out. The section of Waterloo Gardens is closed from Friday, February 16, in order for paths to be re-surfaced, benches to be re-painted, and drainage to be fixed.
The gate on Waterloo Road opposite Sandringham Road will remain open with access to the pergola and the park beyond. The gates next to St Margaret's Church on Waterloo Road and Church Terrace will be closed. It is hoped that the park will re-open on March 31.
The works are part of an ongoing investment programme into parks and green spaces across the city. Work also began last month on Cogan Gardens, with a new play area, paths, exercise equipment, and picnic benches being put in place as part of the improvements.
A Cardiff Council spokesperson said: “A section of Waterloo Gardens south of Roath brook, will be closed from Friday 17th to allow works to improve drainage, refurbish benches and resurface paths to be completed safely. The works, which are part of an ongoing programme of investment in parks and green spaces across the city, are expected to be completed by the end of March.
"Access to the pergola and the northern section of the park will be available throughout the works, via the gate on Waterloo Rd, opposite Sandringham Road.”
