A popular Cardiff park is being locked early again after an increase in antisocial behaviour. Cardiff Council previously locked the gates of Thompson's Park in Canton in the afternoon but had left them open late in recent months to allow residents to use it.
But the council has now decided to start closing the park early again for a number of weeks after a rise in reports of antisocial behaviour in the area. A spokesperson said early locking arrangements resumed on December 12 and will carry on until January 15 when they will be reviewed.
Thompson's Park is popular with dog walkers throughout the year and is also home to coffee shop Lufkin which took over the old public toilets and ranger's hut in the park in 2020. Residents can share their views on the temporary locking arrangements by getting in touch with the council.

During the pandemic, the locking of the parks was suspended to allow residents and walkers access them for a longer period. Many parks have remained open late into the night since restrictions ended earlier this year.
A Cardiff Council spokesperson said: "Locking arrangements have temporarily resumed at Thompson’s Park following reports from the community of anti-social behaviour. The temporary arrangements are scheduled to end on January 15 and will be reviewed at that point. We would encourage residents to share their views on these temporary arrangements by emailing parks@cardiff.gov.uk."
