A 44-year-old man from Cardiff has died after a crash on the M4 on Monday afternoon (April 17), police have now confirmed.
A stretch of the M4 westbound near Bridgend was closed for almost eight hours after a serious crash. A Mercedes Sprinter van hit the central reservation between junction 36 and junction 37.
South Wales Police confirmed late on Monday night that a 44-year-old man from Cardiff had died. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

In a statement issued on social media late on Monday night South Wales Police said: "At 2:30pm today (Mon, April 17) emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on the M4 westbound between J36 & J37.
"A Mercedes Sprinter van collided with the central reservation. As a result of the collision, a 44-year-old man from Cardiff has died.
"The man’s family has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. The motorway reopened at around 10.30pm. Motorists are thanked for their patience and understanding during the road closure
"Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage is asked to please contact us by one of the following means quoting 2300122673."
