A Cardiff start-up firm is experiencing soaring demand for its cup holder product aimed at the music festival market.
Don Hardware has to date sold 5,000 cup holders online via Ebay, Amazon and via its own website, as well as directly to festival organisers and festival traders. It said it is on target to triple sales to 15,000 by the end of this year.
The Don Hardware branded lanyard allows users to carry their drinks hands free. As part of its expansion strategy the company, which also sells other festival related merchandise such as hats, cups and steel tumblers, is exploring new markets such as sporting events, food festivals and holiday parks.
It said its product, which is hand finished in Wales, has the benefit of reducing plastic waste - either by reusing the plastic cup provided at a festival or through customers also buying a Don Hardware metal cup.
As well as a growing client base in the UK, its cup holder is exported across Europe, Australia and Asia. Its current biggest export market is France.
Managing director, Tom Sperring, said: “Don Hardware has seen significant growth this year, driven by a increased demand for events since Covid, and a need to reduce the use of single-use plastics.
We’re excited to see how the company develops over the next year. We have big plans to make festivals and events more enjoyable and sustainable in the future’.
The company currently employs six. Its lanyard product is trademarked with a patent currently pending.
