Partygoers of Cardiff, whether they are born and bred or came to the city for university, will know of and remember with fondness the iconic music venue and late-night bar Buffalo. It was an establishment that housed the students of the city on many a night out and played host to some legendary names before they made it to the big time - Adele and James Blake, to name a few.
After c losing in 2019, fans of the watering hole, which originally opened in 2005, will be pleased to hear that Buffalo is getting a resurrection in its original building on Windsor Place by the team behind Cardiff cocktail bar Pennyroyal. It will reopen to the public with a new interior and the same "great vibes" on Monday, September 19 - kicking things off with a brand new club night.
While the ground floor has been transformed into a delicious Japanese restaurant, Koi No Yokan, the first floor will pay homage to the former music venue, sharing its name as well as hosting some amazing club nights that hope to mirror its predecessor's status.

Sadly, Buffalo's famous Monday night residency Bump & Grind will not be making an appearance once the bar opens, but the new premises promises an equally as memorable replacement with a night named Candy Shop.
Announcing the news of the opening on social media, the bar's Instagram page wrote: "Monday 19th September. Buffalo reopens with a bang (and a DJ).
"Candy shop is our new Monday night. Expect throwbacks to the biggest Hip Hop, R&B, Dancehall and Afrobeats with DJ Jaffa on the decks. We heard you and we tried to get Bump & Grind back but we don’t own the brand and couldn’t reach an agreement with those who do. Candy Shop is our answer. The same great vibes, the same big tunes, fewer cancelled celebrities."
It comes just days after the new and improved Buffalo bar announced it had secured its first live music act, Welsh rock group Himalayas, who will be performing the day after the grand opening on Tuesday, September 20.
