Cardiff City transfer news as Morison reveals truth behind Harris speculation and why he wants Millwall fans to 'hate him' tomorrow

Here's your round-up of all the Cardiff City news for Friday, September 2.

Morison denies Pompey links with Harris

Steve Morison insists Cardiff City didn't receive any offers for any of his players on deadline day, including forward Mark Harris.

Reports on the south coast had suggested Portsmouth were weighing up a late move to sign the Wales international on loan, but Morison has seemingly moved to quash those suggestions.

"Yeah. I had not one phone call yesterday about a player going out," Morison said when asked about the rumours.

"You see loads of stuff on there [social media]. It’s amazing some of the stuff you see at times."

Moz - there are no excuses now

Morison admits there's now nowhere to hide for this Cardiff City squad following their summer transfer exploits.

Callum Robinson became the 17th player to join the Bluebirds after sealing a move believed to be around £1.5m on deadline day, capping off a window of huge upheaval.

Robinson's arrival punctuates a run of games that has seen Cardiff labour in the final third, and there's already pressure on the 27-year-old to hit the ground running.

However, with this now undeniably Morison's own squad, he admits he too needs to now deliver.

"It’s much better because I can go to sleep at night knowing there's no excuses now," he said. "That’s the best way to live your life.

"Control what you can control. Between now and November it will be really good to see where we can get this squad to. Yes, it’s more pressure because there’s nothing to hide behind.

"Are there still changes to be made over time? Yes. But ultimately, for me and my staff we’re sitting in a much happier place. If it works it’s great. If it doesn't at least it was done in a way we wanted it to be."

'I want them to hate me'

Morison takes his Cardiff side to Millwall on Saturday, and says he hopes to do enough to warrant a hostile reception from the locals in south London.

Morison had previously bemoaned Lions fans for being 'too nice' to him during last season's defeat at The Den, and admits he hopes for something a little more feisty this time around.

"They were great last time, to be fair," he said. "I remember them singing my name for large parts of the game, which was a nice feeling.

"But look, I want them to hate me tomorrow. That’s the reality of it, that's just how I am. I thrive off that and hopefully the team will as well."

Rowett impressed by Bluebirds

Millwall boss Gary Rowett says he's been impressed by Cardiff so far this season but believes their hectic summer window may mean they require time to gel.

“They’ve had a big shift in numbers and recruited lots and lots of different players,” he said ahead of the game.

“They seem to have gone younger and more mobile in terms of a lot of the players that they’ve gone for. I think they’ve changed their style too. They’ve played well in a lot of games that I’ve seen, and I’m sure Steve will recognise that there’s a little bit of a transition that might take a little time as well. I think it does when you bring in so many players.

“They’re a side with lots of energy, they’re a side that want to go and press, they’re a side that can move. It’s no different to any challenge really. I think we’ve got to perform well at home, we’ve got to make sure we do certain things better than we did in the last game, and we’ve got to play with a little more freedom at times in the right areas.

“Then it’s up to the players to step up and take that onto the pitch. We’ll work hard to do that and see if we can get a result at the weekend, but we’re respectful of our opponent and their manager, and we’ll do the best we can to try and win the game.”
