Boro open talks for Giles
Middlesbrough are in talks with Wolves to sign Ryan Giles on loan for next season.
Boss Chris Wilder wants the 22-year-old to be his left-sided wing-back for the upcoming campaign having impressed at Cardiff City last term, Football Insider report.
Giles spent the first half of last season in south Wales, playing 29 times for the Bluebirds, laying on nine assists. Wolves recalled him in January but the Bluebirds were keen to bring him back to the Welsh capital. In the end, however, manager Steve Morison couldn't wait and he went for Alfie Doughty from Stoke City instead.
Giles went on to sign for Blackburn Rovers but didn't have the same impact as he did with Cardiff. Morison has signed Jamilu Collins this summer for his left-back spot ahead of the new season.
Lions offer Wallace new contract
Millwall have offered Jed Wallace a new contract.
The Telegraph report the Lions have attempted to keep Wallace in south London despite West Brom moving in for him. Cardiff boss Morison is a firm admirer of Wallace and revealed earlier this season that he would love to sign him for the Bluebirds.
"I would sign Jed Wallace in a heartbeat!" Morison told WalesOnline back in April. "But I’m sure Millwall don’t want to let him go. They will do everything they can to keep him. If he does leave as a free transfer in the summer, he is 27, top of the assists, Millwall’s best player - since I’ve left! I’m joking, well I’m not and he knows it.
"There won’t be a team in the Championship or, I presume, the lower end of the Premier League, who won’t want to take him. There will always be an offer on the table for Jed, it will just be a lot less than what he’d be offered elsewhere!
"It’s not a conversation we’ve ever had. We have many a conversation every now and then when he wants advice or a chat, but we haven’t spoken about him coming to Cardiff unfortunately."
Wallace is out of contract and is attracting plenty of interest, but first-team coach Paul Robinson says nothing is done yet.
“I can see why Jed is liked by a lot of teams," Robinson said. "He is a top player. He is a runner. And he has got great ability when it comes to scoring goals and assisting goals.
“For us [Millwall] he would be a massive loss and I really hope he stays with us. He is a massive character to have around the training ground. But he is a great signing for another club if he chooses to do that. Only Jed will know what he wants to do. It’s his decision and what’s right for him and his family.
“If he does go to West Brom I will be devastated but I will be delighted for Jed because I’ll know he’ll be signing for a great club and I’ll be phoning him to tell him what a great club it is. But nothing is done yet. I am still hoping he will stay a Millwall player and by the time it gets to pre-season he is with us."
Door 'probably closed' on Drameh
The Athletic report that the arrival of Rasmus Kristensen at Leeds United has "probably closed" the door on Cody Drameh at the club for the forthcoming season.
The young wing-back was a sensation on loan in south Wales last season, and he hasn't been shy in telling Leeds what he wants next term - regular game-time.
Morison, a huge admirer of Drameh, this week signed two right-backs to all-but end Cardiff's interest in bringing the defender back for another season. But another loan move is looking likely for him, The Athletic feel.
"Drameh caused controversy by asking to leave Leeds on loan in January, at a time when the club’s injury crisis was at its height," they report. "But Cardiff City was a good move for him and a few months there was enough to win him the club’s player-of-the-year award. If that looked like opening a door for him at Elland Road, Kristensen’s arrival has probably closed it again. Assuming (Luke) Ayling is not forced to miss much of next season, a loan might suit Drameh and Leeds again."
Bamba mulling over options
Preston North End and Charlton Athletic are among the clubs to have made contact over signing former Cardiff City defender Sol Bamba, WalesOnline has learned.
The centre-back, 37, is a free agent after leaving Middlesbrough following a campaign in which he played 29 first-team games, far more than he would have imagined given he had only just been given the all-clear from cancer just 12 months ago.
Neil Warnock took him up there to play a part on the pitch, but also to have a big impact in the dressing room, which he undoubtedly had. And after a season in which he impressed during his many outings for the Teesside club, he has garnered some admirers who want him to sign for them ahead of next season.
