Cardiff City transfer news as Leeds United move offers Bluebirds potential boost and young goal ace leaves

Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City transfer headlines for Friday, June 3.

Leeds closing in on right-back

Leeds United have reportedly agreed personal terms with RB Salzburg right-back Rasmus Kristensen

According to Football Insider, the Premier League side are adding the finising touches to a move to take the Danish international to Elland Road.

It's claimed that the 24-year-old has agreed a contract offer from the club and confidence is growing that he will become their second summer signing.

Should it go through, the move will surely spark questions over the future of former Cardiff City loanee and fellow right-back Cody Drameh.

Bluebirds boss Steve Morison has made little secret of his desire to bring Drameh back to the club for another campaign, although there has been growing pessimism over whether a deal is possible.

There has even been a suggestion that Drameh was perhaps keen to stay and fight for his place at Elland Road, although it remains to be seen whether that stance would be affected were a move for Kristensen be confirmed.

Zimba makes County move

Newport County AFC have completed the the signing of Cardiff City youngster Chanka Zimba on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old was top scorer for Cardiff's U23s last season, netting nine goals for the Bluebirds in the Professional Development League.

Zimba even made his first team debut for City last November, before joining Northampton Town on loan, helping the Cobblers reach the League Two play-offs.

On securing the signing of the forward, County manager James Rowberry said: “I’m really pleased to welcome Chanka to Newport County AFC.

“He’s proved he can score goals at U23 level and had a loan spell at Northampton last season being part of the squad that made the play-offs.

“I’d like to thank Cardiff City FC in their support to making this happen."

Portsmouth hoping for Pack return

Portsmouth are reportedly hopeful of winning the race to sign free agent Marlon Pack.

The midfielder is out of contract this summer having come to the end of his deal with Cardiff City at the end of the season. City are yet to release their retained list for the season, but Pack has already confirmed his departure.

He has already held talks Shrewsbury Town and Bristol City, but Pompey are seemingly hopeful of completing a deal.

According to The News, Pack has been impressed by boss Danny Cowley's ambition for the club, and is prepared to make the drop down to League One.

Rush backs Bale for Cardiff

Wales goal legend Ian Rush has thrown his weight behind Gareth Bale moving to Cardiff City and says it would be 'excellent' for player, club and Welsh football.

Liverpool icon Rush saw Bale smash his Wales goal record and is backing him to fire the World Cup dream this weekend against Ukraine.

Rushie has also given the Bale to Bluebirds bandwagon his backing, telling S4C: "Firstly it would be perfect if Wales qualify for the World Cup. Surely he needs to be playing. There's talk about him retiring, but if Wales get to the World Cup it's 100 per cent certain he won't retire.

"I think it would be absolutely fantastic for Cardiff. His loyalty to Wales, and to Cardiff... for me it would be excellent if we can get Gareth Bale to Cardiff."
