Cardiff City transfer news as Bluebirds reject £2.5m bid for Isaak Davies and Bluebirds reunion in France

Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City news for Tuesday, August 9.

City reject Davies bid

Cardiff City have rejected a £2.5m bid from Burnley for young striker Isaak Davies.

The Wales under-21 international has emerged as one of City's brightest young talents following a successful breakout season last term, but is yet to make a first-team appearance in the 2022-23 campaign after missing most of the pre-season schedule with a knee injury.

However, his progress last season has seemingly caught the eye of suitors elsewhere, with sources indicating to WalesOnline that the Clarets are keen on landing the 20-year-old, after losing a number of their forward options on the back of relegation from the Premier League.

But if they are to land Davies, it seems likely they will have to table an improved offer, with Cardiff valuing the player beyond Burnley's initial offer, which is believed to be £2m up front plus add-ons.

Craig Bellamy, assistant to Burnley boss Vincent Kompany, is a big fan of Davies having worked with him during his days at the Bluebirds academy, although it's not yet clear if he's the driving force behind any interest.

This latest move from the Clarets comes after previous reports had suggested Brentford and Southampton were also keeping tabs on his situation. However, interest from the Saints has since been played down by sources.

Davies made 11 starts for the Bluebirds last term, and earned 19 appearances off the bench, racking up three goals in the process.

Five likely to be missing for Pompey clash

Cardiff City have a few potential absentees ahead of tonight's Carabao Cup clash with Portsmouth.

Ebou Adams is out for a number of months after ripping his pectoral muscle off the bone in a pre-season friendly against Cambridge United. He has had surgery on it and you can read more about it here.

Rubin Colwill and Isaak Davies are unavailable. They've missed most of pre-season and are back on the grass building up their fitness. The end of August is the expected return date for those two.

Andy Rinomhota and Mahlon Romeo both got taken off against Reading at the weekend and it appears unlikely they will feature. Steve Morison has said it will be a different team all together for this clash after using a broadly similar team for the opening two championship fixtures.

As for Portsmouth, they could be without Wales international Joe Morrell and Clark Robertson, both of whom are sidelined with injury issues.

Rambo relishing Kasper reunion

Aaron Ramsey says he's looking forward to linking up with former Cardiff City team-mate Kasper Schmeichel at OGC Nice.

Both players have signed for the ambitious Ligue 1 outfit this summer, with Ramsey netting his first goal for his new club at the weekend against Toulouse, with the Dane watching on from the bench.

"I've played against him many a time," Ramsey said. "I played with him at Cardiff many, many years ago.

So it's come full circle and we're team-mates again. We've played a lot of games together.

"We played at the highest level as well. So hopefully we can have an influence on some things and help some of the younger players even though they often don't need it as much."

Young Bluebirds continue pre-season with a win

Cardiff City's under-21s continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 win over Bournemouth at Leckwith.

The young Bluebirds opened the scoring after 10 minutes when James Crole struck, before a trialist doubled the lead before the break.

The Cherries responded with a penalty early in the second half, before the trialist doubled his tally for the afternoon to wrap up the win.
