Here are your Cardiff City headlines for Tuesday, December 20.
Cardiff City in for midfielder
Cardiff City are reportedly interested in signing Wolves midfielder Connor Ronan.
The Bluebirds are currently under a transfer embargo, but the club insist they are confident of having that lifted and they will be able to operate as normal in next month's window. Whether that proves to be the case or not remains to be seen.
In the meantime, Daily Mail reporter Mike Keegan claims the Bluebirds have joined Huddersfield Town and Coventry City, as well as Scottish duo Hibs and Aberdeen, in the race for the 24-year-old central midfielder.
The Irishman has played just 16 times in six years for the Midlands club and has had to get game-time elsewhere out on loan. He has been at Portsmouth, Walsall, DAC Dunajská Streda, Blackpool, Grasshopper and most recently St Mirren, where he impressed with eight goals from 29 matches from the middle of the park.
While Cardiff are under an embargo, they are clearly lining up targets in the hope that they are able to trade in the new year. A goalscoring midfielder is likely to be high on the list of priorities, should they be able to sign players.
'Brilliant' Biancheri praised for stepping up
Cardiff City under-18s take on Crewe Alexandra in tonight's FA Youth Cup clash at the Mornflake Stadium.
Due to a number of under-18s games being called off for various reasons in recent weeks, young striker Gabriele Biancheri was tasked with stepping up to the under-21s for some game-time in recent weeks as a reward for the 16-year-old enjoying a fine season in front of goal.
Speaking about Biancheri, under-18s boss Steve Jenkins said: ‘’There’s a long way to go with him being only 16, but he’s been fantastic stepping up.
"Goals are brilliant for him, and his two against Bristol City to win us the game earned that call up to the U21s, and when he had his 45 minutes for them I was really impressed."
On the clash with Crewe, Jenkins added: "It’s disappointing to have had our games against Sheffield Wednesday and Reading postponed. That being said, it’s been a good week, we’re in a good place and we’re confident.
"We will go with what we think is as strong as we can, but it’s a really competitive squad now with everyone pretty much back to full fitness, bar a few small niggles.
"We’re really excited and we’re ambitious to do well. It only comes around once a year, so we want to make the most of it. We’re ambitious to have a good Cup run, because it’s exciting for the boys too, and that brings added pressure but we’re confident and want to do well."
Kick-off is at 7pm tonight.
CCST 'generally supportive' of club over legal wrangle
Cardiff City Supporters' Trust have issued details of a behind the scenes meeting they were involved in as the club hierarchy gave an update on the ongoing Emiliano Sala situation.
The Trust's respected chairman Keith Morgan, a Bluebirds fanatic for many years and himself a finance expert, was part of a delegation of fans who spoke to Cardiff's powers-that-be ahead of the disappointing 1-1 draw with Blackpool at the weekend.
Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman explained to the group that the club were under a transfer embargo as a result of not paying the first instalment of the Sala transfer fee Nantes are requesting.
This information was then relayed by the club to the Welsh media. The Bluebirds are continuing to pursue legal action and first want those avenues fully exhausted before parting with any money.
The matter is a highly complicated one, which goes way beyond just football rules. Mr Morgan confirmed in a statement to Trust members: "Fans present were generally supportive of the club's stance in continuing with various legal matters which are complex and involving many matters."
