Cardiff City transfer headlines as Leeds United's Cody Drameh open to Bluebirds stay and injured star makes comeback

Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City news for Friday, March 18.

Drameh open to Cardiff return as Leeds weigh up next move

Cody Drameh could well be open to a Cardiff City return next season, but is likely to wait and see what Leeds United’s plans are for him before making any decision on his long-term future.

Drameh has been one of the standout performers for City after completing a loan move from Elland Road in January, and his future has already emerged as an early talking point for all connected with the Bluebirds. You can read more about that here.

READ MORE: Why another loan exit for Leeds United's Cody Drameh is on the cards next season

There are clearly plenty of discussions to be had over the coming weeks, with Cardiff boss Steve Morison making little secret of his desire to keep Drameh on board next term, and will likely leap on any opportunity to bring him back to south Wales on another loan if it becomes a possibility.

Drameh himself is believed to be thoroughly enjoying life in the capital, following a string of hugely impressive performances.

Given there is still over a month to run on the current season, nothing has been decided yet, and there are likely to be plenty of big discussions behind the scenes over the next few weeks or so. But, at the moment, Drameh is simply focusing on enjoying his football under Morison, whom he shares a strong relationship with.

Beren Cross , our colleague at sister title Leeds Live, believes another loan exit this summer could well be possible.

Doyle receives England call

Cardiff loanee Tommy Doyle has been called up by Lee Carsley's England Under-21s squad for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers with Andorra and Albania.

Doyle, like Drameh, has been in fine form for the Bluebirds since his January loan from Manchester City, emerging as a key part of Morison's plans in recent weeks.

The midfielder currently has two caps at 21s level to his name, but may well feel he's well placed to clock up a few more given his rich run of recent form.

Squad in full

Goalkeepers: Joe Bursik (Stoke City), Etienne Green (St-Etienne), Carl Rushworth (Walsall, on loan from Brighton).

Defenders: Lee Buchanan (Derby County), Charlie Cresswell (Leeds United), Taylor Harwood-Bellis (Stoke City on loan from Manchester City), Levi Colwill (Huddersfield Town on loan from Chelsea), Tino Livramento (Southampton), Luke Thomas (Leicester City), Tariq Lamptey (Brighton), Ben Johnson (West Ham), Djed Spence (Nottingham Forest on loan from Middlesbrough).

Nelson in action for young Bluebirds

Curtis Nelson stepped up his bid for full fitness on Friday afternoon with a run out for Cardiff's under-23s as they were beaten 2-1 at home to Colchester United.

Nelson has been kept out of first-team contention since January due to a calf problem, and turned out alongside some of the club's brightest young talents, with the likes of Jay Semenyo, Oliver Denham and Eli King also all enjoying run-outs.

It remains to be seen whether Nelson will be in contention for the upcoming south Wales derby, which is pencilled in for Saturday, April 2. Kick-off is a 3pm.

Cardiff to pay tribute to Whitts

Cardiff City have confirmed that they will a memorial match for legendary former Bluebird Peter Whittingham in November

The Bluebirds hero sadly passed away two years ago ago today, and there have been growing calls for the club to further honour one of their finest ever servants.

Now, on the two-year anniversary of Whittingham's tragic passing, the club has now confirmed it will host a special tribute match, with details set to emerge in due course.
