Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City headlines for Monday, April 11.
Morison heaps praise on Nelson
Cardiff City boss Steve Morison has hailed the impact of Curtis Nelson during Saturday's 2-1 win over Reading.
Nelson made his first league start since January against the Royals, and even took the armband after Joe Ralls was replaced. You can read more about that here.
With the futures of Aden Flint and Sean Morrison still up in the air due to their respective contract situations, there is every chance Nelson could be more heavily involved next season, although his efforts during the current campaign have admittedly been hampered by a calf problem. Morison was certainly pleased with what he saw from the centre-back in Berkshire, and explained his reasoning for giving the former Oxford United starlet a run out.
"Having Nels back was great because it gave us the ability to have someone who's really good in one v one situations," Morison explained after the win. "That's why he came back in the team.
"He was excellent. He's excellent all the time and it's been a tough one for him. He had a little knock that he didn't think too much of and then it escalated into being something a little bit more that we had to manage properly. I'm really pleased and proud."
Morison makes admission on Stoke City loanee
Cardiff City boss Steve Morison admits he nearly hooked Alfie Doughty just moments before the loanee's goal in the win over Reading on Saturday. The winger produced a fine finish to restore parity for his side just before the hour, a strike that set Cardiff up for a fine comeback win. However, Morison has since admitted that the winger was only moments away from being replaced before finding the net.
"I was literally about to take him off," Morison said. "Wasn't for no reason. It was just because he hasn't started a game. Isaak was there looking at me waiting to come on, and I had to tell him to sit down!
"It was a great finish. A great bit of football from him. He's had a tough time at Stoke. He's come in for the first couple of games and he got the injury and that's been his last year. It's really frustrating for him. He went to Stoke thinking he was going to play. He's come here done really well and then Joel Bagan goes and scores three in three. So it's been difficult, but I'm really pleased for him."
Brown raves over Oxford support
Ciaron Brown admits he was bowled over by the level of support from fans during Oxford United's defeat to Sunderland at the weekend. Brown is currently on loan from Cardiff City, and has been in decent form at the Kassam Stadium. He played in front of a sold-out crowd of nearly 11,700 fans against the Black Cats, and admits he couldn't even hear himself speak at times.
The defender said: “There were times I couldn’t even speak to anyone. I was screaming at people saying ‘I need you here’, but I couldn’t hear anything.
“You want the fans pumping you up and getting behind you – that’s what we’re going to need for the next four games and they’ll do that to the final whistle.”
