Leandro Bacuna's Cardiff City contract is up at the end of the season, WalesOnline has learned.
It was initially reported that Bacuna, who joined from Reading when Cardiff were in the Premier League in January 2019, had signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Bluebirds, taking him up to the summer of 2023.
However, it is understood that his deal in fact runs out in June this year, adding to a lengthy list of experienced players who will also be out of contract.
It means Bacuna joins Sean Morrison, Joe Ralls, Aden Flint, Will Vaulks, Marlon Pack, Ciaron Brown, Josh Murphy, Isaac Vassell and Alex Smithies as players who have only five months left to run on their deals.

It is no secret that Bacuna has grown to become one of the most divisive figures in Cardiff City's squad.
While he has shown his talent earlier in his career with Groningen and Aston Villa, it is fair to say he has by and large frustrated and disappointed in a Cardiff shirt up until now, with only a few months left to make any sort of meaningful impact.
His awkward stint at right-back was a tough ask, while his deployment on the left wing at the start of the season was nothing short of bizarre.
But when he has been afforded games in his rightful position in the middle of the park, he has just not done enough to win over enough Cardiff fans. And he has been given the opportunity.
He has played 155 times for the Bluebirds and has rarely produced with enough regularity to convince supporters he warrants his spot as a regular starter.
The 30-year-old's last act in a Cardiff City shirt, of course, was an egregious scythe down of Philip Billing during the defeat by Bournemouth at the end of last year.
For many, that was the last straw, but we must not forget he has at least five more months to make a lasting contribution.
Cardiff need everyone pulling in the same direction as they look to drag themselves out of a relegation scrap at the back end of the campaign.
For all his flaws, he does have a real engine on him and is probably Cardiff's fastest midfield player. He now needs to start showing his quality on and off the ball, though, if he is to get back into this side.
City have a lot of bodies in the middle of the park, with Manchester City's Tommy Doyle hopefully the next one to join in the coming days, however Bacuna might well have a part to play in this bottom-of-the-table battle.
Cardiff have shown a lot of faith in him in recent years and he now has a very small window to start paying some of it back.
