Cardiff City poised to make former Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo 11th summer signing

Cardiff City are closing in on the signing of former Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo.

The Bluebirds have made 10 signings so far this summer and the 25-year-old is poised to become number 11, with the final details of the deal needing to be ironed out.

Ojo will be a name familiar to City supporters, of course, having enjoyed a positive loan spell in the Welsh capital in the 2020/21 season, during which he registered five goals and seven assists in 42 appearances. He played as a conventional winger under Neil Harris before being moved to a second-striker role alongside Kieffer Moore under Mick McCarthy.

Steve Morison is clearly looking to add some attacking firepower to his squad after bolstering his goalkeeping, defending and midfield options during this window. Ollie Tanner and Callum O'Dowda, both wingers, have also signed during the course of the summer.

Ojo left Liverpool at the end of the season as a free agent, having failed to really break into the first team under Jurgen Klopp. He spent last year on loan at Millwall. He has also had stints at Wigan, Wolves, Fulham, Reims and Rangers.

At 25, the former England under-21s winger, who it is thought will sign a three-year deal with Cardiff, is looking for a more permanent home now to really kickstart his career in earnest in order for him to realise his potential.
